Roon and its ripper
Roon Server is what plays music in this house. It runs with
network_mode: host rather than behind port mappings: Roon’s device
discovery wants to see the real network, and a NAT’d container would make
the speakers invisible to it. Its database, its backups and the music
itself are bind mounts under /path/to/home/roon.
The second service, roon-ripper, is a container I wrote myself. It
watches a couple of streaming services and pulls down anything new from
artists I follow into the same Music folder Roon serves from, so a
release shows up in the library with no import step. Its image is built
locally and its own source isn’t published here; the compose shows how it
is wired in — it shares the Music mount with Roon and carries the
streaming clients’ configuration from the host.
docker-compose.yml— both services, as Portainer runs them
