Travel
For me, travel is a way of expanding horizons, coming out of my comfort zone and seeing the world with my home view. Travelling is a fantastic way to see beyond your culture. You can't get a broad view of people and places by staying in one corner of the earth all your life, and it's hard to stay narrow-minded once you've been somewhere else. Half the fun is in the months before, planning it all and counting down to it, and the rest shows up after I'm back, when for a couple of weeks my head is full of new ideas.
The going matters less than what you bring back. Wherever you go you take yourself along, so don't expect a trip to fix anything in your head. The real point of it is coming home and seeing your own country as if it were a foreign one, which is exactly what happens to me when I land back in Bengaluru. And there's an old Vedic line for the rest of it, charaiveti, keep moving, because the fortune of the one who sits, sits, and the fortune of the one who walks, walks with him.
What follows is a record of where I went and what I noticed there.
